Upcycled ethical jewelry brand Unihana partnered with Platswa to create and sell accessories made with sea urchin spines and marine plastic.
Working together with student members, the team handled everything from production and sales to customer service and communication, developing a co-creative project that raised awareness of marine environmental issues and seaweed-bed loss.
Sharing the story directly with visitors prompted responses such as, ‘I had never known about this,’ and ‘It made ocean issues feel close to home.’
We will continue working to expand awareness of Unihana as a brand addressing marine issues.
