Background
Japan has ideas and practices rooted in its own climate and culture. We need to consider what ethical living means in a form suited to our own country. I want to embody what truly matters and express it in society, helping the people I meet practice an ethical way of life with greater comfort and ease.
Why This Theme
Why This Theme
As ethical values originating in Europe and North America have spread, I have felt uneasy about simply importing them unchanged. I believe it is important in a global society to reconsider the values Japan has long cherished, practice them in forms suited to the present, and allow culture to remain alive through that continued practice.
History
Journey
While a student, I entered a national beauty competition for students in healthcare fields and received the runner-up grand prize. I later entered Miss Earth Tokyo 2020 to raise awareness of cervical cancer and received the Special Jury Award. The competition sparked my interest in an ethical lifestyle.
Turning Point
Turning Point
While reflecting on ethical living and philosophy, I encountered senchado—the way of steeped tea. I was excited to discover how directly the practice of traditional arts connects with ethical living.
